Eight Ways to Celebrate Your Nanny during National Nanny Recognition Week
Posted in: Having a Nanny
It’s National Nanny Recognition Week! The last week in September is reserved for celebrating the people in your life who support you in large and small ways. Nannies are often the backbone of the home, allowing parents to work, run errands or just be able to sneak away and eat chocolate in bed by themselves.
Though you may appreciate them every day, but now is a great time to reinforce how much they mean to you. If you’re stumped about how to thank them for all that they do, here are some ideas to help give them a little extra love.
Eight Ways to Celebrate your Nanny:
- Homemade cards from the kids- We love when the kids take the time to write us a loving message that comes from the heart.
- Flowers- A nice bouquet goes well with those hand made cards! Bonus points if you know your nanny’s favorite flower!
- A gift card to their favorite coffee shop (or any coffee shop, really)
- Take them out to lunch! Quality time with you and your kids while chatting over a nice lunch is a great way to show appreciation.
- Get them a spa day: Whether it’s for a mani/pedi, facial or massage, being pampered goes a long way and leaves them feeling refreshed.
- Car wash or detail: Let’s be honest, if they’re using their car to bring your kids anywhere, chances are it could use a detail from those jam hands.
- Museum passes: If you live in a city full of great museums (i.e. New York, Boston, Chicago, Miami) getting them a museum pass or membership is a great gift.
- A paid day off: We love your kids, but having a surprise paid day off to reset and relax would definitely help us feel appreciated!
Those are just some ways to make your nanny feel appreciated this week. The truth is, even if it’s just some heartfelt words of thanks, an acknowledgement of all they do and what they mean to you and your family, it will be appreciated. We know how hard nannies work and encourage you to recognize their role on more than just this week, but doing something a little special always goes a long way.
