Postpartum Doulas and Newborn Care Specialists are both trained to support new parents in the immediate period after birth throughout the newborn period.

Generally speaking, a Postpartum Doula is trained to support new parents, and has more training on breastfeeding, postpartum mood disorders and helping the parents transition into parenthood.
A Postpartum Doula is more likely to provide day shifts, sporadic night shifts or a “package” amount of hours to support the whole family, helping with baby care, emotional support, feeding guidance, and light household tasks.

A Newborn Care Specialist is trained to be more hands-on with the newborn themselves. They have more training in the variety of different ways to feed a newborn, understanding their development [and how that changes for premature babies] and how to get babies to sleep longer stretches. They are not focused on solely supporting parents in the moment, but also in working on routines with a goal in mind. They are more likely to provide regular overnights or 24/7 live-in care.

We offer 24/7 newborn care, during which a professional newborn caregiver lives with you in your home and is available night and day to care for your baby, offer guidance, and help your whole family adjust to life with a new addition. This option offers the most robust and comprehensive level of support for new and growing families.

We also provide local in-home care for parents who don’t need or want around-the-clock care. These shifts are typically booked in 4+ hour increments during the day or 8+ hour increments at night.

If you are looking for overnight newborn care, we currently have several teams all over the US with wide-ranging availability. And if you’re open to 24/7 Live-in Care or schedules over 60 hours, our travel team can support you no matter where you live!

Our night-time specialists help your baby settle into a healthy feeding rhythm so you can rest while we handle diaper changes, soothing, and monitoring. The result is more rest on the nights we are there and a baby who sleeps more predictably, even when we are not.

Yes, we support all feeding methods [even tube feedings] and can assist with everything from establishing breastfeeding to paced bottle feeding, pumping schedules, and formula prep. [And make sure everything is cleaned up before we leave!]

Yes, many of our certified postpartum doulas are CARROT-eligible, and our admin team can seamlessly support you through every step of the process.
